Space for Waste Delivers Durable, Secure Bin Housing for Havering Council
As part of its commitment to improving estate management, Havering Council recently upgraded the bin storage facilities at a residential block in East London. Working in partnership with Space for Waste, the council selected the 1280L wheelie bin housing to provide a long-term solution that improves hygiene, deters fly-tipping, and supports compliant waste management.

The challenge
Like many local authorities, Havering Council is under growing pressure to improve waste infrastructure in line with tightening UK legislation. The site in question, a mid-sized residential block, faced a number of common issues:
- Overflowing, exposed bins
- Unpleasant odours affecting neighbouring flats
- Unauthorised use and fly-tipping in shared waste areas
- A need for future-proofing the facility
The council needed a durable and enclosed bin storage solution that would enhance the visual environment while supporting day-to-day waste collection operations.
